Telling Time

Because sometimes, a little lady just needs a pretty clock.

One day I might actually get around to filling those two empty frames, too.

Shop BR{i}NK

Six years ago, I opened an Etsy shop.  Five years ago, I abandoned it.  Blair and I had moved to North Carolina so he could attend grad school, and I quickly realized that between the two jobs and thirteen hours I was working every day, I just didn't have time to keep it stocked well enough for anything to actually sell.  So the shop sat empty and unused.

Well, five years, a Masters' Degree, and two children later, I have reopened (and renamed) Shop BR{i}NK.  I currently only have one item listed, but I have several others made.  I'm just waiting on some great natural lighting in order to photograph them.

Once we're fully stocked, you'll find a variety of items for sale.  Baby quilts and afghans, little girl clothes, natural bees wax products, and some of Blair's woodworking.  We are also open to taking custom orders, so if you don't see what you are looking for, feel free to send us an email at etsyshopbrink@gmail.com to make a request.

So here's to an open shop and the time to keep it filled.  I hope to see you over there soon!

Some Fresh Paint

There wasn't anything particularly painful about the paint in the den, but it was pretty scuffed up, and there were some holes in the walls from the previous owners.  It also wasn't really my favorite color, and I have wanted to paint this room (like every other room in the house) since we bought it two-and-half years ago, and this past weekend I got to it.

I took a gallon of free-to-me (the best kind) blue paint and tempered it down with some white I already had on hand (because the natural light in the den is unreal).

When we first bought the house:

After a fresh, clean coat of paint:

It feels so much more friendly and inviting now.  I also moved the lamp from KatyRynne's room in here for some softer lighting and made a few decor changes I'll share with you later.  For now though, just scroll back up and bask in the gentleness and beach cottage feeling of the blue.

Conversations with Blair

Me:  I'm officially going crazy!
Blair:  I could have told you that ages ago.
Me:  Ha, ha.  No, really.  Is there a contact in here?  (Extends contact case.)
Blair:  (Silently inspects)  No.
Me:  Arrrggg!!  Where could it be???
Blair:  Possibly in....here?  (opens other side of contact case)
Me:  You're a genius!!  Wait!  How am I going to tell them apart?  They're both different prescriptions!
Blair:  Try them both in each eye?
Me:  Actually, there's no need to go to that trouble.  The right one is torn, so all I have to do is look for the one missing a chunk.
Blair:  Um...How long have you been wearing those?
Me:  Longer than three weeks.

...........................................

Later that day

Blair:  Did you get your contacts figured out?
Me:  Well, either both of them are now torn, or I've been wearing them in the wrong eyes for about four months...which actually would explain why I haven't been able to see anything.

We had Company

And it was the best kind of company, too.  The grandparent kind of company that loves to scoop up your children and hang onto them for a little while.  Much love given.  Much love received.

A wonderful weekend.

Let's face it, when someone is as intelligent, beautiful, and talented as Dr. P is, when she tells you to make something, you make it.

Ah...Vacation!::Part 3

It rained.  Pretty much the entire time we were there.

Fortunately, I'm a rainy day kind of person, so it didn't stop me one bit.

I think my favorite part of our little trip was visiting the Museum of Appalachia.

Beautiful land.  Beautiful animals.  Beautiful history.
