Cake

So, you wanna hear a funny story about how I was making a cake and dropped an eggshell in the mixer while it was running?

You do??

So I was making a cake and dropped an eggshell in the mixer.  While it was running.

Good story, huh?  Guess what?  It's true.

Last night on a whim I decided to make a cake.  I usually make muffins.  Every day.  Maybe it wasn't a whim.  Maybe it was three days of Noah asking me if he could have cake.  And then two nights ago Blair asked for cake.  Lankford apparently needed cake.

So I made one.  And dropped in an eggshell while the mixer was running.  I managed to dig most of it out.

Most of it...

I made the Golden Layer Cake from my 1953 Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook, and frosted it with the Caramel Frosting found just a few pages later.  It's delicious.  Next time I'll try making it without the added eggshell.

  1. Bahahaha! Just tell them it's calcium-fortified. It wasn't a mistake; you're just a super mom making an extra-nutritious cake. So there.

PS I'm having problems with the comment box eating my comments... I couldn't post this with iOS Safari and or Firefox on my computer. Safari on my computer is working... just wanted to let you know! (Maybe my blog does the same thing? I have no idea.)

  3. I think Sarah's comment said it all for me... although those "crunches" go all through me when they happen that I usually end up ditching the 1st effort altogether... ;-)Good for you salvaging and fishing them out!
